OA travels to Oxford for Volleyball Camp

The best way to become better is to challenge yourself. That's exactly what the Oldenburg Academy girls volleyball team did this past weekend. The girls volleyball team traveled to Oxford, OH for a 2-day, overnight camp at Miami University (OH). There were 12 girls that accepted that challenge along with coaches Debbie Gregg and Rory Bauman. Joining the Twisters at the camp were 10 other local high school teams. "High level play and competition, which pushed the girls quite a bit and really challenged us as we were the smallest 'underdog' team there" Coach Gregg said. Being in that atmosphere and playing bigger schools can be daunting and cause some frustration; however, after some excellent coaching the girls found their stride and started playing with high intensity. "We may have lost some games, but our girls competed with the top two teams at the camp, and we kept it close. This camp was a great indication to the girls of what we need to work on, but it also showed them a few new things we can try for our upcoming season" Coach Gregg added. Besides playing matches against other schools, the lady Twisters crafted their different skills with the help of Miami's head coach Carolyn Conditt and the rest of the Lady Redhawks volleyball team.

It wasn't all work and no play for the girls. They were able to go out and see the beautiful campus of Miami, do team bonding activities, and enjoy their time together.

The volleyball team will open their seaon on August 21st at home versus Switzerland Co. Come on out and support your Twisters!
